WELCOME TO THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF PAPER TOLE
Introduction to " Paper Tole "
While there are many different types of Paper Crafts that have been in
existence for a long time. Paper Tole seems to seems to be the front runner
in making a come-back. The art of Paper Tole can be traced back over several
hundred years. It's origin is in Decoupage and has evolved over the last few
decades to the art-form that it is known as today. A good way to describe it
I think, is to call it "Three Dimensional Art." A completed picture will
have a 3-D look to it. To obtain that dimensional look, your project is
started by layering multiple identical prints. They are carefully cut apart, shaped and reassembled into a 3-D replica of the original print.
KITS include enough prints along with detailed cutting, shaping, reassembling and layering instructions to complete your project giving it a 3-D effect.
Normally, between four and eight PRINTS are included with each packaged kit. The number of PRINTS generally designate the depth of the 3-D effect and the degree of difficulty you can expect when completing your project.
PRINTS consist of only one copy or sheet. This is a simple picture giving you only a 2-D effect (width and height).
If at all possible and if it is available in your area, we suggest taking
several classes to familiarize yourself with the techniques used in Paper
Tole. However, if this is not possible, we do have several Paper Tole Instruction Books available. Also, we have available many commercial kits that have been prepared. The "Kits" come complete with the required number
of prints to finish your project, as well as detailed cutting and
reassembling instructions. These are very explicit instructions and can be
completed by even a new beginner!
The instruction books that we carry in stock are a big help to the
beginner in Paper Tole as they give you complete and detailed instructions on
how to "fur" or "feather" animals and birds, as well as to the knowledge and
ability to achieve the proper depth for your project. If completely new
to the art of paper tole, I would highly recommend these instruction books.
For the advanced Paper Toler, we carry many different " Prints " to
choose from. Prints do not come with cutting and reassembling instructions.
We are supplied with prints from at least four different art print producers and can get the prints of your choice for a reasonable cost.
